New Prebiotic Ingredient from AIDP Helps Ensure a Healthy Gut
A new prebiotic ingredient from AIDP can play a role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem in the digestive tract, Jennifer Gu, the company’s vice-president for research and development, said in a press conference on Tuesday, July 14.
The ingredient, PreticX, is a non-gluten, non-GMO xylooligosaccharide. It is FDA GRAS certified, acid and temperature stable, and its benefits are backed by a University of California, Los Angeles, research study.
According to Gu, that research adds valuable new knowledge to the role that prebiotics play in creating a diverse ecology in the GI tract. “The typical American diet lacking nutrient-dense foods such as whole grains, vegetables, and fruits is harming the delicate ecosystem of the GI tract,” said Gu. “Heavily processed foods, artificial fillers, additives and colors, and the use of agricultural chemicals all destroy good gut bacteria and foster the growth of bad gut flora. This cycle wears down the body’s immune defenses, leading to the possibility of chronic illness.”
